The authors describe the main principles of colour-coded Doppler examination for the study of intra-cardiac blood flow in the horse. In this section of a two-part article, the echocardiographic scan planes, the normal cardiac blood flow trough the atrio-ventricular and semilunar valves and its representation by colour-flow Doppler ultrasonography are described. The advantages of this method as well as the anatomical and technical difficulties encountered during its application are discussed.

Abstract
The authors describe the main principles of colour-coded Doppler examination for the study of intra-cardiac blood flow in the horse. In this section of a two-part article, the echocardiographic scan planes, the normal cardiac blood flow trough the atrio-ventricular and semilunar valves and its representation by colour-flow Doppler ultrasonography are described. The advantages of this method as well as the anatomical and technical difficulties encountered during its application are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
