As the remote sensing is largely available from the second half of 20th century, historical maps are an invaluable tool to reconstruct historical landscape and plan future landscape management. Within historical maps, cadastral maps represent documents which allow to draw best past land uses. In this paper we compare past and present landscapes of the high Tagliole valley within the Frignano Regional Park (Modena Province) using the first Cadastre for the whole Italian territory and present Cadastre in a GIS environment. Results are discussed using aerial photographs and socio-economical data derived from Italian censuses.

Abstract
As the remote sensing is largely available from the second half of 20th century, historical maps are an invaluable tool to reconstruct historical landscape and plan future landscape management. Within historical maps, cadastral maps represent documents which allow to draw best past land uses. In this paper we compare past and present landscapes of the high Tagliole valley within the Frignano Regional Park (Modena Province) using the first Cadastre for the whole Italian territory and present Cadastre in a GIS environment. Results are discussed using aerial photographs and socio-economical data derived from Italian censuses.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
