The non-uniform heat generation in a cylindrical resistor crossed by an alternating electric current is considered. The time averaged and dimensionless temperature distribution in the resistor is analytically evaluated. Two dimensionless functions are reported in tables which allow one to determine the time averaged temperature field for arbitrarily chosen values of the physical properties and of the radius of the resistor, of the electric current frequency, of the Biot number and of either the power generated per unit length or the effective electric current. © 1994 Springer-Verlag.

Abstract
The non-uniform heat generation in a cylindrical resistor crossed by an alternating electric current is considered. The time averaged and dimensionless temperature distribution in the resistor is analytically evaluated. Two dimensionless functions are reported in tables which allow one to determine the time averaged temperature field for arbitrarily chosen values of the physical properties and of the radius of the resistor, of the electric current frequency, of the Biot number and of either the power generated per unit length or the effective electric current. © 1994 Springer-Verlag.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
