Formare gli operatori delle carceri alla promozione della salute: ricerca-azione valutativa di un’esperienza in Emilia-Romagna

Health promotion in prison presents many challenges. In order to overcome some of them, the Emilia-Romagna Region introduced in its prisons the “prison’s health promoter”, a professional working in collaboration with the healthcare team, in a relation of closer proximity to the prisoners. This paper presents the results of an action-research, aimed at implementing, in 2019, a blended training course for prisons’ health professionals on the strategic topics of change promotion and cultural competence. Through interviews and focus groups with participants and shared reflection moments, this research sheds light on the need of adapting the primary care health promotion’s tools to the specific context of the in-prison health promotion and to strongly custom “cultural competence” training needs to the specific environment considered. It also aims to identify possible improvements for future training sessions.
