L’altro montaggio. Architettura come epifania del mondo.

Theater and urban scene, Research and spatial experimentation of the Russian avant-garde is the title of the beautiful book composed by Laura Scala after having finished her research in preparation for her doctorate in architectural composition at the IUAV of Venice. During her studies, Laura Scala was fortunate to have compared and discussed compositional issues and matters relating to her research with Luciano Semerani and Antonella Gallo, who respectively wrote two important introductory texts to the book. Equally relevant is the translation, as an appendix to the book, of Elements of Architectural-Spatial Composition by Vladimir Krinskij, Ivan Lamcov and Mikhail Turkus, first edition of 1934. This is a fundamental text for understanding the teaching of Vchutemas, the Russian State Institute of Higher Art with its art-technical workshops offered in Moscow between 1920 and 1930.

Teatro e scena urbana, Ricerche e sperimentazioni spaziali dell’Avanguardia russa è il titolo del bel libro che Laura Scala ha condensato al termine del suo percorso di ricerca al dottorato in composizione architettonica dello Iuav di Venezia. Lungo il suo percorso di studi Laura Scala ha avuto la fortuna di confrontarsi e discutere temi e questioni compositive inerenti alla propria ricerca con Luciano Semerani e Antonella Gallo, che hanno rispettivamente scritto due importanti testi introduttivi al volume. Altrettanto rilevante è la traduzione, in appendice al libro, degli Elementi della composizione architettonico-spaziale di Vladimir Krinskij, Ivan Lamcov e Michail Turkus, prima edizione del 1934. Un testo fondamentale per comprendere la didattica del Vchutemas, l’Istituto superiore d’arte di Stato russo con i suoi Laboratori di arte-tecnica, che operò a Mosca tra il 1920 e il 1930.
