Seven horses referred for suspensory ligament desmitis were treated by autologous PRP intralesional single dose injection. The lesions were ultrasonographically monitored 2 – 3 months after the injection. Horses were evaluated after 9 or 12 months on the basis of the athletic performances: the outcome was positive in 4 cases. The PRP preparation and the injection procedures are described. The technique of preparation was efficacious in ensuring uniformity of concentration and a sterile product; the clinical trial turned out to be hard to be realized with competing horses; the potential utility of PRP application as a therapeutic option is yet to be investigated
