This article deals with a textual problem in Ovid Tristia III 9, 12. The reading of the passage is made difficult by both a very complex syntax and an uneven ordo verborum. Even though recent editors have not suspected the correctness of this line, it is highly probable that a corruption has occurred. A possible emendation is suggested for a single word of the line.
