The MHD interaction in a hypersonic argon flow was experimentally investigated around various different blunt bodies. The aim of the experiment was to produce a database to be used for the validation of numerical codes for the analysis and simulation of the magnetofluiddynamics in hypersonic flows. This paper summarize the work carried out in the High-Enthalpy Arc-heated hypersonic wind Tunnel of Alta, Pisa, Italy, in cooperation with The Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Bologna, under the support of The European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. In the experiments reported, sharp and blunt bodies has been investigated at Mach 6 and Mach 15. The experiments has shown a large effect of the MHD interaction on the values of the measured quantities.
