The Giusti Garden is one of the finest examples of Italian garden. The flat portion, crossed by an avenue of cypresses, is geometrically marked in squares for the different scenes of the garden: flowerbeds, boxwood labyrinth and hedges with fountains, statues, and epigraphs. The cliff enhances the contrast between the artificial perfection of the beds below and the spontaneity of the upper garden. On 23 August 2020, a powerful storm caused the uprooting of many trees - including the Goethe cypress - which also swept stone artifacts, immediately recovered. The estimate of the damages and the start of the restoration suggested the planning of a management plan of vegetable heritage in order to deepen the evaluation of the trees through morpho-functional analysis and instrumental diagnostic analysis with penetrometers, sonic tomograph and electric tomograph, controlled traction test and DTM investigation, to develop systems to mitigate the consequences of similar climatic events.

Abstract
The Giusti Garden is one of the finest examples of Italian garden. The flat portion, crossed by an avenue of cypresses, is geometrically marked in squares for the different scenes of the garden: flowerbeds, boxwood labyrinth and hedges with fountains, statues, and epigraphs. The cliff enhances the contrast between the artificial perfection of the beds below and the spontaneity of the upper garden. On 23 August 2020, a powerful storm caused the uprooting of many trees - including the Goethe cypress - which also swept stone artifacts, immediately recovered. The estimate of the damages and the start of the restoration suggested the planning of a management plan of vegetable heritage in order to deepen the evaluation of the trees through morpho-functional analysis and instrumental diagnostic analysis with penetrometers, sonic tomograph and electric tomograph, controlled traction test and DTM investigation, to develop systems to mitigate the consequences of similar climatic events.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
