This report explores key developments in immersive retail in response to a brief set out by Anam XR. Through reviewing secondary academic sources as well as industry reports we brought together key findings related to how consumers respond to immersive environments. As this is still a new area, there are limited empirical studies focused on this in the context of fashion retail, so the scope of the literature review included heritage and cultural applications, computer science, design and cognitive sciences. We combined this with the presentation of key findings from a prior study on fashion technology undertaken by the FBRC and the results of a Screencast study focused on consumer responses to the immersive environment developed by Anam XR.
