The paper examines the complex nature of exile and the derived sensation of nostalgia and displacement by analyzing the use of language in the poetry of the Salvadorian poet William Archila. The paper looks into the creative representation of violence and nostalgia in order to investigate the poetic representation of exile. Poetic images and linguistic choices are examined to understand how the creative representations of exile and displacement are expressed within a framework of nostalgia and violence.
