With the aim of reducing the environmental impact of natural aggregate mining for concrete production and valorising industrial waste, self-compacting concretes (SCC) were prepared using, as fine filler, a by-product coming from granites treatment for the production of feldspars for ceramic industry. The results were compared with those obtained from reference samples made with natural fine filler (calcium carbonate) of similar grain size distribution and from ordinary concrete (OC) samples and they turned out very promising. The industrial upgrade of the SCC formulations containing the investigated waste is now in progress in a ready-mix concrete manufacturing plant.

Abstract
With the aim of reducing the environmental impact of natural aggregate mining for concrete production and valorising industrial waste, self-compacting concretes (SCC) were prepared using, as fine filler, a by-product coming from granites treatment for the production of feldspars for ceramic industry. The results were compared with those obtained from reference samples made with natural fine filler (calcium carbonate) of similar grain size distribution and from ordinary concrete (OC) samples and they turned out very promising. The industrial upgrade of the SCC formulations containing the investigated waste is now in progress in a ready-mix concrete manufacturing plant.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
