The paper deals with a bronze ship shaped plate with a votive inscription in venetic characters, datable between the end of the 6th and the middle of the 5th century BC, found in the eastern sanctuary of Este. It is a 'long ship' with oars hatches and side-rudder, similar to models of Greek naval iconography of the late archaic period, clearly distinguishing itself from the contemporary naval iconography of the Adriatic basin, which is instead characterised by different shape of the hulls and different type of rudder.

Abstract
The paper deals with a bronze ship shaped plate with a votive inscription in venetic characters, datable between the end of the 6th and the middle of the 5th century BC, found in the eastern sanctuary of Este. It is a 'long ship' with oars hatches and side-rudder, similar to models of Greek naval iconography of the late archaic period, clearly distinguishing itself from the contemporary naval iconography of the Adriatic basin, which is instead characterised by different shape of the hulls and different type of rudder.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
