Due testimoni «ipermoderni»: retorica dell’incertezza e ricorso alla finzione in Laurent Binet e Helena Janeczek

This essay deals with a specific contemporary form of writing, where historical novel and ‘autofiction’ merge together. In the following pages, Laurent Binet’s HHhH (2010) and Helena Janeczek’s Le rondini di Montecassino (2010) will be taken into account: the employ of a witness-narrator and the combination of ethical engagement and aesthetic gesture clearly show the influence of testimony on this particular kind of writings. A comparative analysis, focused on the voices’ stylistic and rhetorical features, will highlight the key aspects of these ‘hypermodern’ narratives, split between the search for truth and the reliance on fiction.

Il saggio tratta di una particolare forma di scrittura contemporanea nella quale convergono romanzo storico e ‘autofiction’. Si prenderanno in considerazione, nello specifico, HHhH (2010) di Laurent Binet e Le rondini di Montecassino (2010) di Helena Janeczek: la presenza di un narratore-testimone e la volontà di coniugare impegno etico e gesto estetico mostrano l’evidente influsso che la testimonianza esercita su questa tipologia di scritti. Attraverso un’analisi di stampo comparatistico incentrata sulle qualità stilistiche e retoriche delle rispettive voci, si delineeranno gli aspetti fondativi della postura che regola queste narrazioni ‘ipermoderne’, divise tra lo scrupolo di verità e il ricorso alla finzione.
