Verso nuove progettualità maschili. L’educazione e la cura non sono solo questioni «da donne»

The article deals with the theme "few men in the educational and care professions", which is a real knot of complexity. Starting from the suggestions of a research carried out with young men who have chosen training and professional "atypical" for their gender, it is possible to reflect on the relationship between "male and educational care" as it is proposed / imposed by the broader socio-cultural context In particular, the article examines the main reasons why young men do not undertake training and professional paths that could lead them to work in the education sector. Another theme, connected to the first, concerns the analysis of the phenomenon of educational segregation, usually investigated by the part of women in relation to the STEM professions, which must instead also be examined by the male part, because it is able to reveal implications of gender that they do not favor the desired changes in the shared imaginary. The goal is to create the conditions for a more equitable society, respectful of individual differences and open to accepting the planning of each and every one, even when it does not correspond to the social expectations of women and men.

L’articolo tratta il tema “pochi uomini nelle professioni educative e di cura”, che è un vero e proprio nodo di complessità. A partire dalle suggestioni di una ricerca, svolta con giovani uomini che hanno fatto scelte formative e professionali “atipiche” per il loro genere, è possibile riflettere sulla relazione tra “maschile e cura educativa” per come viene proposta/imposta dal più ampio contesto socioculturale. In particolare l’articolo esamina le principali motivazioni per le quali i giovani uomini non intraprendono percorsi formativi e professionali che potrebbero portarli a lavorare nel settore dell’educazione. Un altro tema, collegato al primo, riguarda l’analisi del fenomeno della segregazione formativa, solitamente indagato dalla parte delle donne in relazione alle professioni STEM, che deve invece essere esaminato anche dalla parte maschile, perché è in grado di rivelare impliciti di genere che non favoriscono gli auspicati cambiamenti dell’immaginario condiviso. L’obiettivo è quello di creare le condizioni per una società più equa, rispettosa delle differenze individuali e aperta ad accogliere la progettualità di ciascuno e ciascuna, anche quando essa non corrisponde alle aspettative sociali sul femminile e sul maschile.
