The article shows that in the Zoroastrian theology of the sacrifice it was possible for Ahura Mazdâ, the highest divinity, to offer a sacrifice in favor of one of his minor gods. This happens in the case of Tishtrya and Mithra. n these occasions, the sacrifice has an incremental function in order to strengthen the champion of Ahura Mazdâ himself, and does not imply any subordination of the supreme god to these divinities.
