A passage contained in the Anabasis of Arrian (VI, 29, 7) mentions the office performed by the Magi in honour and memory of Cyrus the Great. The present contribution focuses on the Achaemenid ritual, which is also relevant for the interpretation of some passages in the great inscription of Shabuhr I.
