Usually, the broadcast of films in television schedules is underestimated or taken for granted. At least since the birth of commercial networks, however, it has become a crucial phase in the life cycle of cinema. This arcle aims to reconstruct the main criteria of this use, focusing in parcular on the 80s and 90s, and tracing the first steps of a provisional research on some industrial data relang to Italia 1. Historical reconstruction is intertwined with methodological insights on a difficult research.
