Preface

Cyberbullying is a phenomenon described by international research only since the beginning of the 21st century: despite its novelty, researchers have noted how cyberbullying has already been diffused and how it is expanding rapidly in relation to the growth of the new technology (mobiles, Internet). This book represents one of the objectives of the European Programme DAPHNE II, coordinated by the University of Bologna (Prof. Genta, Dr. Brighi and Dr. Guarini). The text consists of a first part (Chapters 1, 2, 3) in which university studies (often scarcely available to the general public) are summarised and the theoretical implications of prominent studies are critically discussed. In the second part of the volume some results of quantitative research are presented (Chapters 4, 5, 6, 7) and of qualitative research (Chapters 8, 9) obtained in Italy, Spain and Bosnia-Herzegovina involving pre-adolescents and adolescents.
