This essay deals with the reception of Kennedy’s message in Argentina and Brazil in the early Sixties. In particular, it considers how the Alliance for Progress (and more generally Kennedy’s ideals) was received and used by the political class in both countries. That is, how the most significant Argentinian and Brazilian political cultures appropriated and elaborated the development policies that the Kennedy administration was proposing to Latin America.
