The aims of this article are the following: 1) present an overview of the situation in Italian prisons from 2006 to 2020; 2) approach the figure of the recidivism in the period extending from 2006 to 2017. It is clear that official statistics and research regularly published to gain insight into significant data on the prison population, of individuals receiving alternative measures to detention and of those released from the penal system, would be necessary to have interpretative models to use to understand the dynamics of social reintegration programs implemented by prisons and probation services. In this sense, Italy still has myriad tasks to accomplish.

Abstract
The aims of this article are the following: 1) present an overview of the situation in Italian prisons from 2006 to 2020; 2) approach the figure of the recidivism in the period extending from 2006 to 2017. It is clear that official statistics and research regularly published to gain insight into significant data on the prison population, of individuals receiving alternative measures to detention and of those released from the penal system, would be necessary to have interpretative models to use to understand the dynamics of social reintegration programs implemented by prisons and probation services. In this sense, Italy still has myriad tasks to accomplish.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
