Abstract Stress relaxation measurements have been performed at room temperature on the metallic glass Fe67Co18B14Si1. A negative stress relaxation, which appears to be intrinsically irreversible has been observed above a critical stress. The result is compared with results obtained from anelasticity measurements on as-cast and stress-relaxed specimens. The hypothesis that the effect observed is connected with mechanically induced annealing mainly linked to internal stress healing is discussed.

Abstract
Abstract Stress relaxation measurements have been performed at room temperature on the metallic glass Fe67Co18B14Si1. A negative stress relaxation, which appears to be intrinsically irreversible has been observed above a critical stress. The result is compared with results obtained from anelasticity measurements on as-cast and stress-relaxed specimens. The hypothesis that the effect observed is connected with mechanically induced annealing mainly linked to internal stress healing is discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
