The essay, after reporting the latest data on the increase of Public Service Obligations (PSOs) in favour of the EU peripheral and developing regions, comments on the most recent European Commission Guidelines aimed at supporting Member States in the imposition of PSOs. This also considering the lack of European Courts’ rulings on the matter. Particular attention is paid to the measures adopted by the EU in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
