The current work presents a material characterization for bio composites used for automotive industrial applica- tions. The mechanical properties are utilized in the design of components of an electric micro-car for the green innovation of automotive industry. The composite material is homogenized as equivalent orthotropic medium and its mechanical properties verified through laboratory testing. Finally a finite element model of some compos- ite parts are analyzed by considering classical materials and innovative bio-composites. The comparison shows the valuable structural performances of the natural-based composites with respect to classical ones both in terms of cost, economical impact and mechanical performances.

Abstract
The current work presents a material characterization for bio composites used for automotive industrial applica- tions. The mechanical properties are utilized in the design of components of an electric micro-car for the green innovation of automotive industry. The composite material is homogenized as equivalent orthotropic medium and its mechanical properties verified through laboratory testing. Finally a finite element model of some compos- ite parts are analyzed by considering classical materials and innovative bio-composites. The comparison shows the valuable structural performances of the natural-based composites with respect to classical ones both in terms of cost, economical impact and mechanical performances.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
