Nuove considerazioni sui manoscritti alchemici di Domenico Pizzimenti.

The paper points out some new remarks about three alchemical manuscripts owned and annotated by the Calabrian physician and scholar Domenico Pizzimenti, actually kept in the National Library «Vittorio Emanuele III» in Naples (MSS Neap. III D 17, 18, 19). Thanks to a paleographical and codicological analysis it has been possible to identify the Greek scribes, anonymous so far, involved in the copy of MS Neap. III D 18 and 19, which can be now assigned to John Mauromates and Manuel Provataris. Moreover, an accurate comparison between MS Neap. iii D 18 and its antigraph MS Vat. gr. 1174, has allowed to reconstruct the previous arrangement of the latter. The paper also provides an overview of the circulation of alchemical texts in the 16th century.
