Les corpus et la base terminologique LBC. Des ressources pour la traduction du patrimoine artistique

We show the preliminary work being done in order to compile an original online corpus-based dictionary that will provide experts and professionals operating in the art and cultural sectors as well as non-specialists with an invaluable resource for writing and translating arts in a plurilingual perspective. The focus of this project is the collection, analysis and comparison of linguistic resources to describe artistic and cultural heritage in seven different languages. This paper describes the corpora especially created, in a diachronic and synchronic perspective, composed of literary, historical and non-specialized texts (from the Grand Tour to the tourist guides), as well as of software used to interrogate these corpora: SketchEngine and HyperMachiavel. In the last part of the paper, an example shows the advantages of the LBC dictionary in solving translation difficulties arising when confronted to architectural terminology: the Italian term loggia.
