Considering the most recent normative as well as the most known and validated waste management systems, this research focuses on the "eGate" technology. "eGate" is a collection system that allows a standard volumetric survey of the waste put into the street bin coupled with an accounting system for both waste production and relative fees. Through the regulation of municipal unsorted waste flux, this technology drives the user to enhance sorting collection since the user itself may reduce the waste fee by improving his sorting efficiency. The introduction of "eGate" in a referential municipality caused the sorted collection ratio to grow from 30% up to 60% in only two moths and without rising any management cost. Furthermore, the waste fee itself has been reduced.

Abstract
Furthermore, the waste fee itself has been reduced.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
