The aim of the paper consists on introducing the relation between food and sociology. The first part of the discourse will examine how important is the understanding of this topic within the sociological field. In fact, sociologists use to appeal to food and dietary behaviors in order to explain a number of social phenomena. Bearing in mind the previous points, in the second part we have a glance to the spendibility of sociological knowledge about the topic.
