An innovative historical approach to the figure of the emperor Commodus, whose cinematic renditions are mostly based upon the most famous ancient sources (Historia Augusta, Cassius Dio), that show a matked aversion towards Marcus Aurelius'son. Other sources, especially Christian ones, can give an important contribution to a more objective and impartial judgment.
