This article focuses on the diary of an Ottoman soldier (the author's great-grandparent) that was kept during the Suez Canal operation of the Ottoman forces at WWI. Corporal Ismail was then taken as a prisoner of war by the Arab tribes during the Arab Revolt of 1916. He was taken by the British forces and transferred to today's Myanmar.
