Machine learning systems are obtaining outstanding results in several fields and are now used in various applications, products, and services. However, in order to minimize their harms and exploit their benefits, it is fundamental to understand the limits and the potentialities of algorithms that learn directly from data. In my PhD thesis, I would like to investigate how the limits of machine predictions influence the interaction between humans, computers, and big data.

Abstract

Machine learning systems are obtaining outstanding results in several fields and are now used in various applications, products, and services. However, in order to minimize their harms and exploit their benefits, it is fundamental to understand the limits and the potentialities of algorithms that learn directly from data. In my PhD thesis, I would like to investigate how the limits of machine predictions influence the interaction between humans, computers, and big data.
