The paper presents the functioning of a new instrument capable of determining the skid resistance of the flooring materials, even the resilient ones, estimating the combined effect of the material surface and the hoof penetration. The instrument can measure the variation of the horizontal force required to move a sled body test loaded with a vertical force of the same magnitude of the pressure exerted by the animal foot on the floor. In this way not only the static coefficient can be calculated but also the subsequent resistance of the soft flooring to the sliding of the hoof after its initial displacement can be determined. The instrument is also very simple and portable, therefore suitable both for measurement in laboratory and real housing conditions. The first results of tests carried out in laboratory are shown and discussed in this paper.

Abstract
The first results of tests carried out in laboratory are shown and discussed in this paper.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
