The purpose of this essay is to analyse how surrogate motherhood is represented both in academic and scientific debate and in the everyday lives of gay men. The work is structured as follows. In the first part of the article, the author tries to pinpoint some important issues on surrogacy from two different point of views: surrogacy as gender trouble and surrogacy as feminism trouble. Subsequently, the symbolic and cultural representations of surrogacy by the gay men interviewed are presented.
