My Italian translation of the novel Mansfield Park by Jane Austen was published by Rusconi Libri in 2012. The present contribution aims to describe and discuss some aspects of my practical experience in translating this novel. A particular focus will be on the issue of what it means, from both the cultural and the literary point of view, to translate this book into Italian in the 21 st century, and on the strategies I adopted in order to translate certain aspects of the author’s language and style.
