Bodl. Barocc. 17 and 23 are two of the three manuscripts containing the Alexander Romance as collected by the mathematician Francesco Barocci (1537-1604) in Crete. This paper examines the subscriptions and annotations on these books, attempting to find their owners and establish a link between them before Barocci’s collection.
