Quando immaginare gli effetti di un'azione genera compatibilità spaziale: Uno studio preliminare

Previous research showed a Spatial Response-Effect Compatibility effect when participants were presented with the actual consequence triggered by their response or with the one ensuing from the movement of a stimulus on the monitor. The present study extends these findings by examining the role of imagination in the occurrence of the effect. Participants were shown the image of a volleyball superimposed on a hand and were asked to press one of two lateralized keys according to the side (right or left) they assumed the ball would end up. Even if participants were instructed only to imagine the consequences of the depicted action, we found a Spatial Response-Effect Compatibility, suggesting new perspectives on this interesting effect.

L’effetto di compatibilità spaziale meta-risposta (M-R) è emerso in contesti sperimentali in cui la meta era la conseguenza visibile della risposta del partecipante o la conseguenza visibile del movimento di uno stimolo sul monitor. Questa ricerca estende lo studio della compatibilità spaziale M-R esaminando il ruolo dell’immaginazione nella manifestazione dell’effetto. È stato, condotto un esperimento in cui ai partecipanti è stata mostrata l’immagine statica di un’azione di attacco nel gioco della pallavolo ed è stato chiesto loro di immaginare il punto di arrivo del pallone al termine dell’azione. Nonostante la meta fosse la conseguenza immaginata di un’azione suggerita dallo stimolo, i risultati hanno mostrato un effetto di compatibilità spaziale M-R suggerendo nuove prospettive nello studio di questo effetto.
