In recent years, the ecological crisis has raised growing concerns and provoked activism at the social, political and cultural levels. The issue has been important in the historiographical debate as well. The article offers an overview on how historians have dealt with the environmental question and, on the other hand, how the environmental question has influenced the historian's craft.
