It is investigated whether an accusative object of impersonal passive exists in Latin and by considering all pertinent examples this possibility is excluded. It seems, therefore, that accusative and nominative are balanced and in the indirect construction and construction with AcI the accusative acts as a default case, while in contruction with finite verb the nominative seems to fulfil the position of a default case. The consequence is that in a series of subordinate clauses the exclamative infinitive takes as a subject case the accusative and the infinitive of narration the nominative. In both occasions they act as 'default' cases.

Abstract
It is investigated whether an accusative object of impersonal passive exists in Latin and by considering all pertinent examples this possibility is excluded. It seems, therefore, that accusative and nominative are balanced and in the indirect construction and construction with AcI the accusative acts as a default case, while in contruction with finite verb the nominative seems to fulfil the position of a default case. The consequence is that in a series of subordinate clauses the exclamative infinitive takes as a subject case the accusative and the infinitive of narration the nominative. In both occasions they act as 'default' cases.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
