In the late Ramesside Period the number of inscribed objects in tomb equipments surges, focusing upon the name of the deceased. Based on a case study from the cemeteries of Sedment the phenomenon is discussed in its relationship to the presumed “quest for immortality” of the Ancient Egyptians. Moreover, the materiality of the inscribed objects as well as the addressee of the inscriptions are considered.
