The Brigate Rosse (Red Brigades) was a controversial social and political phenomenon that created a fracture in the Italian society in the 1970s. This paper analyses Le Monde articles focused on such a phenomenon from two crucial perspectives: the first appearance of Brigate Rosse as a media subject with the kidnapping of judge Mario Sossi in 1974, and their astonishing kidnapping and murdering of Italian former prime minister Aldo Moro in 1978. Here we propose a review of the journalism records of that time to describe the current understanding and media impact of those actions in 1970s Italy.

Abstract
The Brigate Rosse (Red Brigades) was a controversial social and political phenomenon that created a fracture in the Italian society in the 1970s. This paper analyses Le Monde articles focused on such a phenomenon from two crucial perspectives: the first appearance of Brigate Rosse as a media subject with the kidnapping of judge Mario Sossi in 1974, and their astonishing kidnapping and murdering of Italian former prime minister Aldo Moro in 1978. Here we propose a review of the journalism records of that time to describe the current understanding and media impact of those actions in 1970s Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
