The paper analyzes the legislation that applies to cultural properties of the Catholic Church according to the Italian Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape (legislative decree no. 42/2004). In particular, the paper examines the heritage of religious interest. Its thesis is that the religious heritage gives evidence of the identity and history of religious institutions.
