In the context of galaxy formation, I discuss the expected effects of dissipationless on the scaling laws followed by elliptical galaxies. The main conclusion is that the galaxy scaling laws, possibly established at high redshift by the fast collapse of gas-rich and clumpy stellar distributions in preexisting dark matter halos, are compatible with a (small) number of galaxy mergers at lower redshift.

Abstract
In the context of galaxy formation, I discuss the expected effects of dissipationless on the scaling laws followed by elliptical galaxies. The main conclusion is that the galaxy scaling laws, possibly established at high redshift by the fast collapse of gas-rich and clumpy stellar distributions in preexisting dark matter halos, are compatible with a (small) number of galaxy mergers at lower redshift.File in questo prodotto:
