The Adultery theme in the Roman declamation is developed by combining theatrical characters and events. This essay examines some declamatory passages in order to analyze family conflicts and their connection with tragedy: the quarrel between two brothers in love with the same woman recalls the myth of Atreus and Thyestes, but also in the paradigm of Agamemnon and Orestes the adultery and the incest are main features. However the variants of the adultery theme seem to reaffirm traditional Roman values
