The article aims to analyze the recent transformation of the Italian Social Movement (Msi) into the National Alliance (An) and, in particular, to assess the extent of change in the political culture in a sample of mid-level party elites surveyed at the last party congress. Delegates judgments towards the fascist regime, the values of the French revolution and leading classical political thinkers are used as indicators of democratic attitudes. A peculiar profile is found for the younger delegates: within a general, democratic stance, the latter maintan conservtive attitudes with neo-fascist roots.
