The article reflects on the possible interaction between design and material culture, establishing a connection between past, present and future, by discussing how ar-chaeological heritage can generate contemporary design, as well as how design can act as a “mediator”. This re-flection was applied in the context of the research activity Contemporary-Antique, carried out in collaboration with the Archaeological Museum of Bologna. The authors propose an interpretation of archaeological heritage as expression of material culture in the collaborations with museums, places in a prime position to experiment with design and cultural heritage. Finally, the presented project highlights the role of design as a tool in the process of valorisation.

Abstract
The article reflects on the possible interaction between design and material culture, establishing a connection between past, present and future, by discussing how ar-chaeological heritage can generate contemporary design, as well as how design can act as a “mediator”. This re-flection was applied in the context of the research activity Contemporary-Antique, carried out in collaboration with the Archaeological Museum of Bologna. The authors propose an interpretation of archaeological heritage as expression of material culture in the collaborations with museums, places in a prime position to experiment with design and cultural heritage. Finally, the presented project highlights the role of design as a tool in the process of valorisation.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
