Abstract: During the last two years, a new archaeological research project has been launched by the Department of History Cultures Civilization on the site of the medieval castle of Ceparano (Brisighella, Ra). In the first investigations have been identified the structures of the main area, built on the top of the hill, with a funerary chapel and some housing structures that demonstrate that the site was occupied from the beginning (970 AD) as a fortified village and not as a fortress with exclusive military functions.
