Aim of the present contribution is the study of drag reduction (DR) in rodlike polymers by means of Direct Numerical Simulations. Even if in the past a number of investigators have tried to explain DR via the role of elasticity in flexible polymers, it is interesting to point out that non-Brownian fibres, that have no elasticity, can achieve significant reduction of the friction coefficient. The results we will discuss are obtained by using a model, already discussed in [1], which is an appropriate limit of the rodlike polymer ones.

Abstract
Aim of the present contribution is the study of drag reduction (DR) in rodlike polymers by means of Direct Numerical Simulations. Even if in the past a number of investigators have tried to explain DR via the role of elasticity in flexible polymers, it is interesting to point out that non-Brownian fibres, that have no elasticity, can achieve significant reduction of the friction coefficient. The results we will discuss are obtained by using a model, already discussed in [1], which is an appropriate limit of the rodlike polymer ones.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
