THE «CULTURAL BRIDGE» CONTEST AND BILINGUAL SPEAKERS’ PROBLEMS IN TRANSLATION Annotation: In this work we analyze Russian-Italian translations as part of the “Cultural bridge” contest, involving Russian-speaking bilingual children living in different European countries and in the USA. This part of the contest was devoted to Russian speaking children and teenagers living in Italy, attending Russian “Saturday” schools, which translated small literary texts from modern Russian writers. For all the contest participants Russian is a heritage, family language and Italian is the dominant one in most school and society relations, therefore it tends to become their first language. The paper analyzes bilingual children difficulties in translation from the linguistic point of view.
