This paper deals with the figure of the person in charge of the procedure provided for by the articles 4-6 of the l. n. 241/1990 (on the administrative procedure). It discusses the resulting implementation and the interpretations envisaged as regards organisational and functional profiles. In particular, it underlines the role that the investigation carried out by the person in charge of the procedure plays in the public administration decision-making process. The paper serves to recall Professor Giorgi Pastori who promoted the profile of the figure as a member of the Commission that drafted the bill.
