In questo saggio si propone un'interpretazione della poesia astrale di Pascoli attraverso le "figure della morte", secondo un'espressione di Mario Pazzaglia, per mostrare la modernità di un itinerario filosofico ed esistenziale che approda al Nulla con esiti del tutto originali. La rappresentazione pascoliana dei cieli costituisce una vera e propria svolta nel panorama della poesia cosmica ottocentesca, distaccandosi radicalmente dalle certezze positivistiche , così come dallo spiritualismo misticheggiante di poeti astrali quali Tommaseo, Aleardi, Zanella, ma anche Hugo. Più vicina alle visioni negative di Graf, Leconte de Lisle e Prudhomme, la cosmologia pascoliana si distingue per un perturbante senso funebre e diventa esplorazione dell'Ignoto negli abissi stellari, nonché meditazione sul destino dell'uomo tra annullamento e speranza di palingenesi. This essay proposes an interpretation of Pascoli's astral poetry through the "figures of death", according to an expression of Mario Pazzaglia, to show the modernity of a philosophical and existential itinerary that arrives at Nothingness with completely original results. Pascoli's representation of the skies constitutes a real turning point in the panorama of cosmic poetry of the Nineteenth century, radically detaching itself from positivistic certainties as well as from the mystical spiritualism of astral poets such as Tommaseo, Aleardi, Zanella, but also Hugo. Closer to Graf, Leconte de Lisle and Prudhomme's negative visions, Pascoli's cosmology is distinguished by an uncanny funeral sense and become exploration of the Unknown in the stellar abysses and at the same time meditation on the human destiny between dissolution and hope of palingenesis.

Abstract
